Netherlands-based America’s Cup team DutchSail have announced Dutch business magnate and yacht enthusiast Eelco Blok as their new managing director.

DutchSail will compete in the 36th America’s Cup in 2021. Two-time competition winner and team principal Simeon Tienpont looked forward to the impact Blok can have in his new role, per AmericasCup.com:

“Eelco is the right man in the right spot and definitely at the right moment. He was the one and only person on our short list and we see it as a major leap forward in the further development of our campaign.”

Blok has served as the head of nine companies and most recently worked for seven years as CEO of Dutch landline and mobile telecommunications company, KPN.
