Norway will again play host to the Dødsing World Championships in Oslo this Saturday, August 17, as defending champion Emil Lybekk looks to retain his crown.
Also known as the “Death Diving World Championships,” Dødsing is a sport that originated in Norway and is steadily making a global reputation as one of the emerging obscure water sports:
Participants aim to leap from a diving platform and illustrate maximum control in the air before making a splash, either protecting themselves for the impact or taking the pain front on.
Three years on from his stunning victory at the 2016 Dødsing World Championships, 20-year-old Truls Torp recently looked back on his triumph (via Instagram) ahead of this weekend’s summit.
The action gets underway at the Frognerbadet pool complex on Saturday, August 17, with tickets available via Ticketmaster.com.
