Adam Peaty, Aimee Wilmott Impress with Big Wins at 2019 British Championships
British swimming superstar Adam Peaty has restored his world No. 1 status after winning in the
100 metres on the opening night of the 2019 British Championships.
Aimee Wilmott won the 400-metre medley in four minutes, 36.98 seconds, a time that should be
enough to see her through to the World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea in July.
Olympic 100-metre champion Peaty took 100-metre victory in 57.87 seconds and will get the
chance to win a third straight world gold in the event. The 24-year-old said: "I'm back to world
number one and that's job done for me.”
Freya Anderson, 18, beat Holly Hibbot by 0.01 seconds in the 200-metre freestyle final and will
look to add a second British gold to her collection on Friday in the 100 metres, her best event.
