Carissa Moore held onto her place at the top of the WSL Women’s Championship Tour standings on Sunday after she finished third at the 2019 Freshwater Pro at Surf Ranch, in Lemoore, California.
Sally Fitzgibbons’ hopes of challenging for the title took a major knock after she failed to qualify for the final in California following a first-round score of 12.73 points (out of 20).
Peterson only just edged Fitzgibbons into the last round and took full advantage of the opportunity, beating Johanne Defay, Moore and Caroline Marks in the final with a laudable score of 18.03 points.
Moore remains almost four points ahead of Peterson with three events remaining this season, while Peterson has leapfrogged Fitzgibbons into second spot.
