The Tokyo Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games has confirmed The Nippon Foundation as its latest contributor for Tokyo 2020.
The Nippon Foundation is a grant-making organisation, and a statement released on Tokyo2020.org said their contribution “differs from the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme” as it’s a non-profit company.
The Volunteer Programme will be focused on crafting training programmes for instructors and volunteer leaders, as well as “developing interviewers for volunteer selection”and other tasks related to the event.
Yohei Sasakawa is Chairman of The Nippon Foundation, and he said of the partnership: “We are very honoured to be able to contribute to the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 as a Tokyo 2020 Official Contributor. Volunteers are the driving force behind the Tokyo 2020 Games. They will play an important role in making the Tokyo 2020 Games a success and introducing the appeal of Japan to the spectators who gather from around the world.”
It’s now less than 18 months until the next instalment of the summer Olympics is scheduled to begin in Japan’s capital.
