The International Olympic Committee has permitted Korea to put forth unified teams in four sports for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, according to IOC. What’s more, the IOC also said the two Korean nations wish to march alongside one another at the opening ceremony.
The move keeps up a tradition which began at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, when they entered a unified women’s ice hockey team in what was the first such team of its kind.
The Koreas have since been represented as a unified team in table tennis, judo and men’s handball at the World Championships.
