Serbia reclaimed the Water Polo World League crown after defeating Croatia 12-11 in the Super Final decider to extend their lead as the competition’s all-time record holders.
The tournament hosts came back in the final quarter to beat rivals Croatia by one goal, in the process clinching their 10th overall Super Final title. Hungary and Montenegro come closest to that tally among active teams, boasting two gold medals apiece.
Filip Filipovic was named Man of the Match after he netted four goals en route to victory, with only Dusan Mandic able to match that sum among Croat players.
Croatia’s Ante Vukicevic ended the match as top scorer with five goals of his own, however, it wasn’t enough to prevent a 5-3 swing in the last quarter from overturning the result.
