Hotels.com, Booking.com, Expedia and Trivago Discount Codes and Rewards: What Each Site Really Offers UK Travellers

Booking.com Genius, Hotels.com Rewards, Expedia One Key, Agoda VIP and trivago: the official UK discounts, member prices and promo codes, checked.

Hotels.com, Booking.com, Expedia and Trivago Discount Codes and Rewards: What Each Site Really Offers UK Travellers

Type any big booking site’s name followed by “promo code” into a search engine and you will be buried in voucher pages promising 15% or 25% off. Almost none come from the brands themselves. The real discounts are less glamorous and far more reliable: free membership schemes that cut the price of selected rooms the moment you sign in, and rewards that build as you book.

We went through the official terms, help pages and loyalty pages of Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia, Agoda and trivago in October 2026 to find out what each one actually gives UK customers. Where a brand publishes no standing public Promo Code, we say so plainly and explain the member pricing that does the same job.

How we checked the codes and member deals

Every figure here comes from the brands’ own pages: Booking.com’s Genius page, the Hotels.com and Expedia UK terms (both effective from 8 April 2026), Agoda’s October 2025 announcement of its Diamond tier and trivago’s own corporate releases and filings. We looked for any Promo Code published by the brand itself on its website, app or help centre, and found no standing public code from any of them for UK hotel bookings. We ignored voucher-site codes completely.

We rank the sites on what an ordinary UK traveller gets for free, how quickly the rewards build and how simple the rules are. Rewards and member prices apply to selected properties and dates only, so treat them as a reason to compare, not a reason to stop comparing.

The best hotel booking discounts, ranked

1. Booking.com Genius

Booking.com Promo Code: None needed
Welcome offer: Genius Level 1, 10% off selected stays and rental cars as soon as you sign in

Booking.com does not run a public discount code for hotel stays. Instead, everyone who creates a free account and signs in joins Genius, its loyalty scheme, at Level 1. That unlocks 10% off selected stays and selected rental cars, plus flight price alerts.

Level 2 arrives after five bookings in two years and widens the discount to 10% to 15%, with free breakfasts and free room upgrades at some properties. Level 3 needs 15 bookings in two years and brings discounts of 10% to 20%, the same breakfast and upgrade perks, and priority support on every stay. Discounts apply to the room price before taxes and fees, and car hire discounts to the car only.

The catch is that Genius prices are set by each property, so a Genius badge is not the same as the lowest price on the internet. You will also see “Mobile-only price” labels in the app on some hotels: these are rates the property chooses to offer to app bookers, so it is worth checking the app before paying on a laptop.

Cost: free to join.

Pros

  • Instant 10% off selected stays with no qualifying period
  • Level 2 needs only five bookings in two years

Cons

  • Discounts are property by property, not across the board
  • No points or cash back to bank for later

2. Hotels.com Rewards

Hotels.com Promo Code: None needed
Welcome offer: Member Prices of at least 10% off selected hotels, and £100 in Hotels.comCash after 10 eligible nights

Hotels.com has changed its rewards twice in three years. The famous “collect 10 nights, get one free” scheme gave way to Expedia Group’s One Key, and on 8 April 2026 UK members moved again, to a new Hotels.com Rewards programme. Expedia Group said existing One Key members in the UK kept the rewards and tier status they had earned.

The headline is simple: stay 10 eligible nights and you get £100 in Hotels.comCash, worth £1 per pound off a future booking. The nights can come from one trip or several, but each booking must average at least £75 a night including taxes and fees, and nights paid with Hotels.comCash, gift cards or coupons do not count. The reward lands up to 3 days after the 10th night on Pay Now bookings and up to 35 days on Pay Later bookings.

Members see Member Prices of at least 10% off on selected hotels. Silver (5 nights in a calendar year) raises that to 15% or more, while Gold (15 nights) and Platinum (30 nights) reach 20% or more at selected hotels. VIP Access hotels add perks such as breakfast for Silver and above, and room upgrades for Gold and Platinum. A “Save Your Way” option on some Pay Now bookings lets you take the saving now or bank it as Hotels.comCash.

Cost: free to join.

Pros

  • A clear, cash-like reward for regular bookers
  • Tier status counts nights with no minimum spend

Cons

  • Cheap nights under a £75 average do not count towards the £100
  • Pending rewards expire after 12 months with no booking

3. Expedia One Key

Expedia Promo Code: None needed
Welcome offer: Member Prices on selected hotels, and 2% back in OneKeyCash on eligible hotels, cars and activities

On Expedia’s UK site, One Key is still the scheme, now covering Expedia and Vrbo, with Hotels.com running its own rewards alongside. Under the UK terms effective from 8 April 2026, you earn 2% in OneKeyCash on hotels, holiday rentals, Expedia packages, car hire and activities, calculated before taxes and fees. Flights earn just 0.2%.

The better rate comes from Expedia’s VIP Access hotels, which pay 3% to Silver members, 4% to Gold and 6% to Platinum. Tiers are counted in “trip elements” in a calendar year: 5 for Silver, 15 for Gold and 30 for Platinum, where each hotel night, each car hire day, each activity ticket and each flight ticket counts as one, as long as the component is worth at least £20 before taxes and fees.

OneKeyCash does not expire as long as you book or redeem at least once every 18 months. Member Prices show for signed-in members and app users on selected hotels, cars, activities and flights, and can differ by tier.

Note that Expedia’s US terms cut the Blue rate to 1% and ended flight earning from 28 July 2026. Those changes were not in the UK terms we read in October 2026.

Cost: free to join.

Pros

  • Earns on car hire and activities, not just rooms
  • Generous VIP Access rates for higher tiers

Cons

  • Flights earn almost nothing
  • Rules now differ between Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo in the UK

4. Agoda and AgodaVIP

Agoda Promo Code: None needed
Welcome offer: Member deals on selected hotels, with AgodaVIP discounts as your bookings build

Agoda, which like Booking.com belongs to Booking Holdings, is strongest in Asia but lists hotels worldwide. It does not publish a standing public Promo Code for UK customers; limited-time coupons appear inside your account and the app, and Agoda’s own announcement says its top members get early access to them.

The loyalty side is AgodaVIP, where status rises with the number of bookings you make. In October 2025 Agoda added a Diamond tier for its most frequent bookers, promising its lowest prices across hotels, flights and activities, priority customer support and up to 25% off exclusive deals. Lower VIP tiers unlock perks such as free breakfast, room upgrades and flexible cancellation at selected properties.

As with any site, compare the final total at checkout rather than the headline figure.

Cost: free to join.

Pros

  • Often competitive on Asian city hotels
  • Diamond tier offers up to 25% off exclusive deals

Cons

  • Tier thresholds are not as clearly published as Booking.com’s
  • Coupons are short-lived and account-specific

5. trivago

trivago Promo Code: None needed
Welcome offer: Free price comparison; you book and pay on the site trivago sends you to

trivago is not a travel agent, so it has no discount codes to give. It is a hotel search engine, majority-owned by Expedia Group, that compares the prices other sites charge for the same room and sends you to the one you pick. Its own 2025 annual report explains that those sites pay trivago per click or a percentage of the booking, which is why the cheapest price is not always the one shown first.

That is its value for code hunters: a quick way to see whether Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia, Agoda or the hotel’s own website is cheapest tonight. trivago says it covers more than 5 million hotels and other places to stay in over 190 countries. In 2024 it bought the hotel rate company Holisto and said it was extending exclusive deals to signed-in members, so it is worth logging in before you compare.

Any discount you receive comes from the site you finish on, under that site’s own rewards rules.

Cost: free.

Pros

  • One search shows several sites’ prices side by side
  • No account needed to compare

Cons

  • Sites pay trivago for referrals, so the first price shown is not always the lowest
  • Cancellation and refunds are handled by a different company

Getting the best hotel price online: what matters and what to ignore

Sign in before you search. Member Prices on Booking.com, Hotels.com and Expedia only appear when you are logged in or using the app. A signed-out search shows you the full price, which is how many people conclude these schemes are worthless.

Pick one scheme for regular trips. Booking.com Genius rewards frequency (five bookings in two years for Level 2), while Hotels.com rewards nights (10 nights for £100). Someone who takes several short weekends a year leans towards Genius; someone who does a fortnight in a hotel each summer may hit the Hotels.com reward in a single trip, provided the average is £75 a night or more.

Ignore voucher-site codes. None of these brands publishes a standing public code for UK hotel stays. Codes on coupon sites are usually expired, limited to another country, or tied to a credit card partnership you do not hold.

Check the hotel directly. Since 14 November 2024, the EU’s Digital Markets Act has stopped Booking.com from forcing hotels in the European Economic Area to match its prices elsewhere, so a hotel in Spain or Italy can now legally undercut Booking.com on its own website. Many hotel chains also give their own loyalty members lower rates; our guide to the best hotel loyalty programmes covers those.

Compare the final total. Taxes, resort fees and city taxes vary by country and by how a site displays them. The figure that matters is the one on the last screen before you pay.

Hotel Booking Sites in 2027: Prices, Rewards and Who Sets the Rules

In 2027 the cheapest room is often on the hotel’s own website. Booking.com has had to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act since November 2024, and in September 2026 it stopped using prices on other channels to decide which hotels qualify for its sponsored benefits across the European Economic Area. Hotels there can now offer lower rates direct without being penalised.

At home, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act gave the Competition and Markets Authority power to enforce consumer law directly from April 2025, including a ban on drip pricing: mandatory fees must sit in the headline price. Loyalty schemes have also split by brand. Hotels.com runs its own UK rewards again, while Expedia and Vrbo stay on One Key.

Hotel Discount Codes: Your Questions Answered

Is there a Booking.com promo code in the UK?

Not a standing public one. Booking.com gives discounts through Genius instead: 10% off selected stays from Level 1, rising to 10% to 20% at Level 3. Signing in to a free account is all it takes to start.

What happened to One Key on Hotels.com?

From 8 April 2026, UK members of Hotels.com moved to a new Hotels.com Rewards programme, keeping the rewards and status they had earned. Expedia and Vrbo stay on One Key in the UK. Hotels.com now pays £100 in Hotels.comCash after 10 eligible nights.

Does trivago have discount codes?

No. trivago is a price comparison search engine, not a seller, so you book with the site or hotel it links to. Any discount you get comes from that company’s own scheme.

Do I have to book in the app to get the best price?

Not always, but it helps to check. Booking.com properties can set mobile-only prices, and the Expedia and Hotels.com terms say Member Prices are available to app users as well as signed-in members. Compare the app and the website before paying.

Can I use Booking.com Genius and a hotel’s own loyalty points together?

Usually not. Most hotel chains only award points and elite benefits on bookings made directly with them or through approved channels, and third-party sites rarely qualify. Check the chain’s own terms before you assume a Booking.com stay will count.

Do Hotels.comCash and OneKeyCash expire?

Yes, if you stop using them. Available Hotels.comCash expires after 18 months without activity, and pending rewards after 12 months without a booking. Expedia OneKeyCash stays live if you book or redeem at least once every 18 months.
