Lakey Peterson and John “John” Florence were the big winners at this weekend’s Margaret River Pro as the 2019 World Surf League Championship Tour continued in Western Australia.
The fourth event of the season saw Peterson win at Margaret River for the first time in her career, while it was Florence’s second time succeeding at this venue in three years.
It also makes Florence the first surfer to rack up multiple wins this Tour and gave him a lead of nearly six points at the top of the men’s standings.
Stephanie Gilmore still edges Caroline Marks at the summit of the Women’s Championship Tour table, with Peterson up to sixth and closing in on the standings leaders.
