Five-time Olympic gold medallist Nathan Adrian recently conducted his first major interview since being diagnosed with testicular cancer in January, where he revealed he still has intentions of competing at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Intent on not allowing the illness slow him down, Adrian appeared on NBC’s The Today Show and said he was committed to at least attempting a role in the Summer Games next year:

“Heck yea, I’m gonna try! I’m trying to get back to the Bay area soon as possible so I can hop in the weight room, so I can hop in the pool with my guys and start training again.”
