Antarctica is one of the most expensive ways to travel on Scenic Eclipse.
Scenic currently lists some 13-day Antarctica in Depth departures from around £16,100 per person, while full fares for the same or similar sailings can be several thousand pounds higher.
That means a headline price is only a starting point. Different dates, promotions, and suite categories can change the total considerably.
Antarctica costs more because it is a very different product from a Mediterranean cruise. Scenic carries fewer passengers in polar regions, relies heavily on expedition staff and Zodiacs, and operates in places where weather and logistics play a much bigger role.
What Is Included in a Scenic Eclipse Cruise?
Scenic includes more in the fare than many traditional cruise lines.
The standard fare generally covers:

- Gratuities
- Scenic Freechoice activities

Potentially, yes.
If your main goal is experiencing Scenic Eclipse itself, a lower-priced warm-weather or repositioning voyage can make more sense than Antarctica.
You still get the suites, restaurants, drinks, service, and most onboard facilities.
What changes is the destination and the type of exploration.
A Mediterranean or transatlantic voyage is more likely to focus on coastal towns, ports, food, and time onboard. Antarctica is much more about wildlife, ice, Zodiac landings, and expedition activities.
So the cheapest Scenic Eclipse cruise is not really a cheaper version of the Antarctica experience. It is a different holiday on the same ship.
Do You Need an Expensive Suite?
Probably not for most travelers.
Scenic Eclipse does not start with basic inside cabins. Entry-level accommodation already includes a veranda and butler service.
Higher categories can add larger terraces, separate living areas, more space, and extra benefits.
But think about how you will actually use the ship.
On an expedition-heavy itinerary such as Antarctica, you may spend much of the day away from your suite. Personally, I would put more value on the itinerary and activities than upgrading several suite categories just for extra space.
What Else Should You Budget For?
The fare is highly inclusive, but there can still be other costs.
Flights and hotels
Check the exact offer. Some Scenic promotions include flights or a flight credit, while others do not.
For a major trip such as Antarctica, arriving at least a day before embarkation can also make sense, which may mean an extra hotel night.
Optional experiences
Budget separately for helicopter flights, submersible experiences, and spa treatments if they are important to you.
Travel insurance
For an expensive expedition cruise, check the policy carefully rather than choosing on price alone.
Look at cancellation limits, cruise cover, medical treatment, and evacuation.
Scenic Eclipse Price Per Night
Price per night can be more useful than looking only at the total fare.
For example:
£16,100 ÷ 13 days = about £1,238 per person per day.
That is still expensive, but it makes it easier to compare Scenic Eclipse with similar expedition products from Silversea, Seabourn, and Ponant.
I would use price per night alongside the total fare rather than judging a voyage only on the headline number.
Is Scenic Eclipse Worth the Money?
Not for everyone.
If your priorities are a comfortable cabin, restaurants, a pool, and warm-weather ports, there are luxury cruises that cost less.
Scenic Eclipse makes more sense when how you explore the destination is a major part of the trip.
You have relatively few passengers, expedition staff, Zodiacs, kayaks, and on some itineraries the option to book helicopter or submersible experiences.
There is also value in having most food, drinks, tips, Wi-Fi, and many excursions already included.
For me, the deciding question would be:
Am I paying for Scenic Eclipse because I want the ship, or because I want what the ship lets me do?
If it is mainly the ship, a lower-priced warm-weather itinerary may offer better value.
If it is Antarctica, the Arctic, or another remote destination, the expedition capability becomes a much bigger part of what you are paying for.
How to Get Better Value on Scenic Eclipse
A few comparisons can make a real difference.
Compare several departure dates. Similar itineraries can have noticeably different fares.
Check both promotional and full fares. The difference can be several thousand pounds.
Do not automatically upgrade the suite. The standard accommodation is already much better than what you would find on many cruise ships.
Check whether the activities you want actually operate. This is especially important for helicopters and the submersible.
Calculate the price per night. It makes comparing different cruise lengths much easier.
Compare the total trip cost. Flights, hotels, and optional experiences can matter as much as the cruise fare itself.
For Antarctica, I would also compare Scenic with Silversea, Seabourn, and Ponant before booking.
