Our verdict: The Omron Evolv is a validated, well-designed upper-arm monitor that removes the most awkward part of home blood pressure checks: the tube and the separate box. It is on the BIHS home-use list and the US validatebp.org listing, and it was validated in pregnancy, including pre-eclampsia. It lacks AFib screening and multi-user memory, so it suits one person who wants accuracy without fuss.
The Evolv has been around since 2016 in the US, where it is sold as the BP7000, and as the HEM-7600T-E in the UK and Europe. That age is a point in its favour here: it has had years to collect independent validation, which is what you want from a medical device.

What the Omron Evolv does
Most home monitors have a cuff, a rubber tube and a separate unit with a screen. The Evolv folds all three into one: the display and pump sit on the cuff itself. Slide it onto your upper arm, close the wrap, press the button and read the result on the arm.
Omron’s Intellisense inflates the cuff only as far as needed for each reading, which keeps it more comfortable than monitors that pump hard every time. A cuff wrap guide tells you if the fit is too loose, a body movement indicator flags readings taken while you shifted, and an irregular heartbeat symbol appears if your pulse rhythm was uneven during measurement.
Readings sync by Bluetooth to the free OMRON connect app, which keeps your history and lets you share a report with your GP surgery or practice nurse.
How accurate is the Omron Evolv?
This is where the Evolv earns its place. The independent registry Medaval records two passed validation studies:
- General population: passed the European Society of Hypertension International Protocol 2010, published by Takahashi in the Journal of Clinical Physiology (Japan) in 2019.
- Pregnancy: passed in a study by Topouchian and colleagues in Vascular Health and Risk Management (2018), covering normotensive pregnancy, hypertensive pregnancy and pre-eclampsia, analysed against ISO 81060-2 and British Hypertension Society criteria.
It appears on the BIHS list of monitors validated for home use, and Omron confirms the BP7000 is on the US Validated Device Listing at validatebp.org. Pregnancy validation matters because blood pressure behaves differently in pregnancy, and many monitors have never been tested in that group.
Omron Evolv price
UK pricing varies widely. PriceSpy’s lowest new offer on 29 October 2026 was £74.99, Currys listed £102.99, Chemist Direct £103.20 (down from £129) and the British Heart Foundation shop shows a £125 list price. In the US, the Mayo Clinic Store sells the BP7000 for $108.45.
There is no subscription. The only running cost is AAA batteries, about 300 readings per set according to the BHF listing.
What we liked
It is easy to fit. No tube to tangle, no box to balance. Many people can put it on one-handed, which helps if you live alone or have limited mobility.
Validation you can check. BIHS-listed, on validatebp.org and validated in pregnancy. Few smart monitors tick all three.
Gentle inflation. Intellisense avoids over-pumping the cuff.
Useful prompts. The wrap guide and movement indicator nudge you towards a correct reading.
Three-year warranty, according to the BHF shop.
What we did not like
No AFib screening. The Evolv flags an irregular heartbeat but does not run the dedicated atrial fibrillation mode found on some Omron models, such as the M7 Intelli IT AFib. Chemist Direct and the Mayo Clinic Store both confirm AFib screening is absent.
One user. It stores 100 readings with no split between people, so households sharing it will rely on the app to keep records apart.
Batteries, not mains. There is no AC adapter option.

Both are in our guide to the best smart blood pressure monitors.
How to get an accurate reading with the Evolv
Use the routine the BIHS and NICE recommend: no caffeine, smoking or exercise for 30 minutes; sit with your back supported, feet flat and legs uncrossed; rest five minutes; support your arm so the cuff sits at heart height; stay quiet. Take two readings a minute apart, morning and evening, for at least four days and ideally seven, then ignore day one and average the rest.
If your home average is 135/85 mmHg or higher, see your GP or pharmacist; that is the NICE threshold for diagnosing hypertension. Readings repeatedly at 180/120 or above need a same-day call to your GP or NHS 111, and 999 if they come with chest pain, breathlessness, a severe headache or weakness. In pregnancy, report any raised reading to your midwife or maternity unit promptly.
Who should buy the Omron Evolv
Buy it if you want a validated monitor that is quick to put on, you are pregnant or planning pregnancy and your midwife has suggested home monitoring, or you find tubed cuffs fiddly.
Choose something else if you want AFib screening, need a cuff larger than 42 cm, or share the monitor with others and want separate on-device memories.
Omron Evolv FAQs
Is the Omron Evolv clinically validated?
Yes. It passed the ESH International Protocol 2010 in the general population and was validated in pregnancy, including pre-eclampsia. It is on the BIHS home-use list and the US validatebp.org listing.
Does the Omron Evolv detect atrial fibrillation?
No. It shows an irregular heartbeat symbol if your rhythm was uneven during a reading, but it does not have a dedicated AFib screening mode.
What arm sizes does the Evolv fit?
Its Intelli Wrap cuff fits upper arms from 22 to 42 cm. Measure around the middle of your upper arm before buying.
Is the Evolv the same as the BP7000?
The BP7000 is the US version. The UK and European version is the HEM-7600T-E. Check that the model you buy is the one on your country’s validated list.
Can I share Evolv readings with my GP?
Yes. The OMRON connect app keeps your readings and lets you export or share them, which many surgeries accept alongside a written diary.
