BitStarz opened in 2014 and has kept its name through more than a decade and several changes of operating company. It is a casino and nothing else: no sportsbook, no trading products, just slots, table games and live dealers from established studios, with crypto at the heart of the cashier.
This review is for adults in countries where BitStarz is licensed to accept them. BitStarz is not licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and may not legally offer gambling to people in Great Britain. Its restricted list also includes the US, Australia, France, Spain and the Netherlands. If you are in the UK, use a UKGC-licensed site from our UK online casinos guide.
Not available in the UK. BitStarz holds no UK Gambling Commission licence and lists the UK as restricted. Using a VPN to reach it breaches its terms, and a casino can close the account and withhold winnings when it finds out. 18+ only. Free, confidential help is available at GambleAware.org.
Our verdict
BitStarz has the most straightforward licence evidence of any crypto casino we checked: the regulator’s own certificate names the company, the number and the domain. Add twelve years under one brand and a focused casino, and it is a sound pick for slots players where it is licensed. It loses marks because the people behind Gareton B.V. are not named, and because there is no sportsbook for those who want one.
How we reviewed BitStarz
This is a desk review. We did not open an account or deposit, because BitStarz does not accept players from the UK, where DailyStoke is based, and we would not get round that block. Instead we checked the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s certificate for Gareton B.V., BitStarz’s published terms and independent licence directories that track its earlier operators, alongside trade press reporting. Where we could not confirm a detail, such as current bonus amounts, we have left it out rather than guess.
BitStarz at a glance
- Operator: Gareton B.V., Curaçao, company number 160656
- Licence: Curaçao Gaming Authority, OGL/2024/165/0185, licensed since 8 July 2024
- Founded: 2014
- Earlier operators: Direx N.V. (from 2014), Dama N.V. (2020 to 2021)
- Products: slots, table games, live dealer; no sportsbook
- Restricted: includes the UK, the US, Australia, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Brazil
- Approved domains on the licence: bitstarz.com and a series of numbered mirror addresses
Licence and ownership
We opened BitStarz’s licence certificate on the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s own site. It names Gareton B.V., company number 160656, as licensed by the regulator since 8 July 2024 under licence OGL/2024/165/0185, and lists bitstarz.com among its approved domains. The same licence also covers a run of numbered mirror sites (b1tstarz33.com, bitstarz200.com and similar) and a separate brand, Cashy.
That paper trail matters. Mirror domains are common in crypto gambling, and copycat sites trade on big names. If you land on a BitStarz address, click the seal and check that the exact domain in your browser appears on the certificate. If it does not, leave.
BitStarz’s corporate history is busier than its brand suggests. It launched under Direx N.V., with a Cyprus agent, Direx Limited. From late 2020 to mid-2021 it ran under Dama N.V., which held an Antillephone sublicence and later a CGA licence. Gareton B.V. is named in terms updated on 25 June 2025. None of these companies publishes its owners, so the public record stops at the licensed company. We found no fines, enforcement actions or major security incidents in our checks.
Welcome offer
BitStarz’s welcome deal is a deposit-match package with free spins spread across the first deposits. The amounts, wagering and eligible games vary by country and change often, and we could not confirm current terms on BitStarz’s own page, so we do not quote figures. Before you opt in, check the wagering requirement, whether it applies to the deposit as well as the bonus, the maximum bet while the bonus is live, any cap on winnings and the expiry date. If any of these is missing, skip the bonus and play with cash.
Games
The library is built around slots from well-known studios, with a live casino for blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows. With no sportsbook to distract it, the lobby is easy to find your way around. Third-party games rely on their providers’ certified random number generators. Check each game’s information panel for its return-to-player figure before you play, and remember that the figure is a long-run average, not a promise for one session.
Deposits, withdrawals and ID checks
BitStarz accepts several cryptocurrencies; check the cashier for the coins and any other methods offered in your country. Crypto play comes with its own risks:
- Volatility. A Bitcoin balance can lose value while you play, even if your results are level.
- Irreversible transfers. Choose the wrong network or paste the wrong address and the coins are usually gone. Send a small test amount first.
- ID at withdrawal. Licensed Curaçao operators must run anti-money laundering checks, and BitStarz can ask for photo ID and proof of address before paying out. Verify before you deposit, so a win is not held up.
Safer gambling: set it up first
Before your first deposit, open the account settings and set a deposit limit, then check what cooling-off and self-exclusion options are available. If you cannot find a tool, ask live chat to apply it, and keep a copy of the confirmation. A casino that will not set a limit for you is not one to play at.
Self-exclusion at BitStarz does not cover other sites, including any brand that shares its licence. If you need a break from gambling altogether, use blocking software as well, and talk to someone: GambleAware.org has free advice and support.

Who BitStarz is for
BitStarz suits adults in countries where it is licensed to operate who mainly play slots and live tables and want a site with a long record and a licence they can check in two clicks. It does not suit anyone in the UK, the US or another restricted country, players who want sports betting, or anyone who expects a regulator to step in on an individual dispute.
BitStarz in 2027: Complaints, Disputes and Who Hears Them
This year a BitStarz player with a stuck withdrawal has more of a route than they did under Curaçao’s old sublicence system. Since the National Ordinance on Games of Chance took effect on 24 December 2024, licensees answer directly to the Curaçao Gaming Authority, which published an updated complaints policy in June 2025 and guidelines for independent dispute resolution that September. The regulator still does not take up individual complaints itself, but it accepts reports about operators and can act where a pattern suggests a breach. In practice the order is clear: complain to the casino first, then to an approved dispute service, keeping every email and chat log.
