Matchbook welcome offer and sign up bonus

The NEW30 offer is built to make you try both halves of Matchbook. You place one £10 bet on the exchange and one £10 multiple or bet builder, and in return you get three £10 free bets, each locked to a market type: an Exchange Free Bet, a Multiples Free Bet and a Bet Builder Free Bet. It is open to new customers aged 18 and over whose first deposit is not made by Skrill, Neteller or Paysafecard.

A worked example. You back a horse at 2.4 on the exchange for £10 and put £10 on a football treble at combined odds of 4.5. Neither bet has to win. Once both settle, the three tokens arrive. You use the Exchange Free Bet to back a selection at 5.0 and it wins: you receive £40, because the £10 free bet stake is not returned. There is no wagering on free bet winnings and no stated maximum win, so that £40 is cash you can withdraw.

The catches. Each token must be used in full on the market type it was issued for, cannot be withdrawn, and expires either at the end of its listed event or seven days after crediting, whichever comes first. Qualifying bets on Enhanced Specials do not count, and backing and laying the same selection does not count towards qualifying volume. Customers who sign up through certain matched betting services are excluded, as are accounts Triplebet considers linked, and the offer is limited to one per person, household, email address, payment card or shared computer. The biggest knock-on: taking part “will exclude you from being added to any 0% Commission promotions in the future”.

The commission alternative. Exchange regulars have a second route. Register with Promo Code COMMFREE110 instead, deposit, and your commission rate is set to 0% for 110 days from the date of registration. It applies only to bets on the Matchbook Exchange and Matchbook Zero interfaces, Enhanced Specials are excluded, the same Skrill, Neteller and Paysafecard exclusion applies, and it too bars you from future 0% commission promotions. You can take one offer or the other, never both.

Getting the most from the tokens. Because the stake is not returned, the Exchange token keeps more of its value at 5.0 or 6.0 than at evens. Save the Bet Builder token for a big televised match, and watch the event-based expiry. If you mainly lay or trade, 110 days at 0% commission is likely to be worth more than £30.

Matchbook review: our verdict

Matchbook is the friendliest-rated of the UK exchanges we track, with a Trustpilot score above 4 and plenty of praise for its support team. The NEW30 offer is fair value at £30 for £20 of qualifying bets, but it takes more effort than most bookmaker deals, and the fixed tokens restrict how you use the money. Regular traders should look hard at COMMFREE110, which offers a long commission-free run on top of an already low 2% rate. Either way, decide before you register: the two Promo Codes cannot be combined, and taking NEW30 rules you out of future 0% commission promotions.

Betting on Matchbook: exchange markets, multiples and bet builders

Matchbook’s core product is a peer-to-peer exchange where you back or lay at prices set by other users, typically on football, horse racing, tennis and US sports. Commission is 2% and is charged only on net winnings, so losing bets cost nothing extra. Alongside the exchange sit fixed-odds multiples and a Bet Builder that combines up to 12 legs from a single match, which is why the welcome offer splits its qualifying bets between the two.

Matchbook Zero is the interface the commission offer refers to. It covers selected racing and football markets with no margin and no commission; racing markets open 60 minutes before the off and football 48 hours before kick-off, with a £200 maximum payout and no cash out or free bets. Matchbook was also the first UK firm to launch a prediction markets platform, Matchbook Predictions, where you trade Yes or No positions on real-world outcomes priced as a percentage.
