CrushOn AI is an 18+ character chat site built around a huge library of characters made by its own users, from fantasy adventurers to would-be partners. It markets itself as unfiltered, which in practice means it permits adult roleplay for over-18s that mainstream chatbots refuse.
We like it for the sheer range of characters and for a monthly plan that starts lower than most of its rivals. We are less keen on what happens to your chats, and on its reviews. Here is our CrushOn AI review: what the free credits cover, what Standard and Premium cost, how memory works, and how it compares with Candy AI and EVA AI.

Our verdict
CrushOn AI is the broadest playground in this group: a vast character library, many genres and a choice of AI models, with the cheapest monthly plan. It is a poorer fit if you want one consistent partner, and the privacy policy is blunt that chats can be used to train AI models. Trustpilot reviewers are overwhelmingly unhappy, mostly about quality and billing. Worth trying free; worth paying for only if you love the roleplay.
Pros
- Huge library of user-made characters, filterable by gender and style
- Standard plan from $5.99 (about £4.49) a month, or less on annual billing
- Free tier renews 100 message credits every month
- Group chats and longer memory on paid plans
- Creators must pass identity and age checks before earning money from characters
Cons
- Privacy policy says chats may be used to train AI models
- Free chat history is deleted after 7 days of inactivity
- Message credits run down fast, as regenerating a reply costs extra
- Trustpilot score of 1.8, with 91% one-star reviews
- Terms governed by Hong Kong law, with the operator in Cyprus
What CrushOn AI does and who it is for
CrushOn works like a social library of chatbots. Users create characters and publish them, and anyone can chat with them. You can filter by gender, animated characters and unfiltered content, save chats as “memories” and browse by creator. Paid tiers add group chats with several characters and longer memory.
Because the catalogue covers men, women and non-human characters, CrushOn suits both the best AI girlfriend apps and best AI boyfriend apps guides, though it is really a general character platform. If you want a single partner who learns about your life, Candy AI or EVA AI are closer to the brief.
Where it fits: a tabletop gamer who wants a fantasy campaign on a Sunday evening when the group cancels; a fan fiction writer testing dialogue; someone who has outgrown the limits of mainstream chatbots and wants adult storylines with a fictional character.
Is CrushOn AI free? Free vs paid features
Yes, within limits. Independent checks in September found free accounts get 100 message credits a month, counting both sides of the conversation, with regenerating or continuing a reply costing 2 credits. Free users get a smaller memory window, access to a subset of models and no group chats. Chat history on free accounts is cleared after 7 days of inactivity, which matters if you are mid-story.
Free coins arrive for daily logins and for creating a first character, and CrushOn occasionally releases gift codes. Diamonds, a separate currency, pay for premium content from creators.
CrushOn AI price: plans and the cheapest way to pay
CrushOn’s pricing loads inside the site after you sign in. These are the plan prices reported by independent checks in September; pound and euro figures are conversions.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | £ (monthly / annual) | € (monthly / annual) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (2,000 credits a month) | $5.99 | $58.88 | £4.49 / £44.18 | €5.33 / €52.44 |
| Premium (6,000 credits a month) | $14.99 | $94.88 | £11.25 / £71.20 | €13.35 / €84.50 |
| Luxe (20,000 credits a month) | $39.99 | Not listed | £30.01 | €35.62 |
Higher tiers for very heavy users run to $89.99 and $199.99.
The cheapest way to pay. Annual Standard works out at about $4.91 (about £3.68) a month. When DailyStoke compared the tiers, Premium on annual billing looked the best balance: three times Standard’s credits for about $7.91 a month. Plans renew on the same calendar day each month, and cancelling leaves the service active until the end of the period.
Credits and Diamonds: what they really cost
Message credits are the meter. Every message, yours and the character’s, uses them, and regenerating a reply costs extra. On Standard, 2,000 credits a month is about 1,000 exchanges, or roughly 33 a day; enough for a nightly chat, not for a marathon roleplay. Diamonds are separate: you buy them to open paid content from creators, they cannot be cashed out and they cannot be transferred.
Features that matter
Memory. Paid plans get a bigger context window, so characters keep track of more of the story; the largest is on Luxe. Saved chats can be kept and published as “memories”.
Voice. Paid tiers can send and receive audio, according to independent reviews, with custom voices on the higher plans.
Images. Characters can send pictures from creator-made albums; some cost Diamonds to open.
Models. CrushOn lets you choose between several large language models, with the strongest reserved for paid plans.
Apps and sync. No native app. CrushOn runs in a browser on phone or desktop, synced to your account. Nothing works offline.
Privacy and safety
CrushOn’s terms, last modified in September 2026, say the service is provided by Techiepie Ltd, a company registered in Cyprus, but governed by Hong Kong law. Its privacy policy, last modified in March 2025, is direct: “We may use User Content from character chats to train AI models,” though it says this is done in a general way not linked to individual users. Data may be shared with sub-processors including the “operator of the AI basic model”, unnamed. There are no fixed retention periods, and account closure and data requests go through email.
Users must be at least 18. Creators who want to earn from their characters may be asked to complete identity, age and payee verification; ordinary users confirm their age themselves. The terms ban anything that harms minors and showing real people in images without their permission.
In February 2024, Mozilla’s Privacy Not Included team reviewed 11 romantic chatbots, CrushOn among them, and found that ten failed its minimum security standards and that only one, Genesia AI, let users opt out of chats being used for training. CrushOn was not that one.
A word on healthy use. A long-running story with a favourite character can be a good escape, but it is not a substitute for people or professional support. Samaritans are free on 116 123 in the UK, and 988 is the call and text line in the US.
What users say about CrushOn AI
CrushOn has no official store app, so there are no App Store or Google Play ratings. On Trustpilot its unclaimed profile scores 1.8 out of 5 from 22 reviews in the past year, with 91% at one star.
Some reviewers start warmly. Katherine M., from the US, wrote in July 2026: “This was the first AI Chatbot company I tried, and ultimately upgraded pretty quickly as I enjoyed he service.” Amy, in a two-star review in January 2026, said: “I do love how you can create your own personas and use them to interact with the characters”.
Both went on to complain, and they have company. Joao L., from Portugal, in February 2026: “I am done wasting my time and money on a platform that treats its paying users with such incompetence.” A US reviewer posting as MailMosaic, in August 2026: “This is misleading and, in my opinion, a shady practice.”
