Our verdict
Candy AI is a polished, feature-heavy companion site that makes sense on one condition: you pay annually. At $47.88 a year the unlimited text chat is good value, and the 100 monthly tokens cover a modest amount of pictures and calls. On the monthly plan, and once you start topping up tokens, it gets expensive quickly. The free tier is a taster rather than a plan, and the privacy terms deserve a proper read before you share anything personal.

What Candy AI does and who it is for
Candy AI is a chat companion first. You pick a character from a catalogue of more than 100, or design one, and talk to it as you would a partner over messages. Paid users can ask for voice notes, call the character, and generate pictures and short clips. The site allows adult roleplay for adults on paid plans, under its own underage policy and community guidelines.

Is Candy AI free? Free vs paid features
There is a free account, but it is a sample. Candy AI’s help centre lists exactly what free users can do: send up to 5 messages in chat across all characters, create one custom AI character and generate one image. Voice notes, calls, video and adult image generation all need Premium.
Premium adds unlimited text messages, creating as many companions as you like, adult image and video generation, the “live action” video feature and 100 tokens a month. Premium Plus, the newer top tier, raises that to 330 tokens a month, adds a 10% bonus on token top-ups for quarterly and yearly subscribers, and gives early access to new characters three days before everyone else.

The cheapest way to pay. The annual plan is the obvious winner: $47.88 a year is less than four months on the rolling monthly price. The catch is commitment. If you are not sure, the discounted first month at $9.99 is the honest trial, but set a reminder, because it renews at $13.99. When DailyStoke compared the plans, the quarterly option looked the weakest: more than double the annual price per month for little extra flexibility.
Credits and tokens: what they really cost
Text chat on paid plans is free of tokens; anything with a picture or a voice is not. Candy AI publishes no per-action list, but independent price checks report images at 4 tokens, voice calls at 3 tokens a minute and a new custom character at 10 tokens.
So the 100 monthly tokens stretch to roughly 25 images or half an hour of calls, not both. Top-ups start at 100 tokens for $9.99, which means a busy month of pictures can cost more than the subscription itself.
Features that matter
Customisation. The character builder covers appearance, age range (adults only), personality, voice and hobbies. More detailed companions use more tokens to create.
Memory. Characters pick up where a conversation left off, but Candy AI does not publish how much history they retain, so do not expect a perfect recall of last month.
Voice and video calls. Voice notes and calls are paid features, charged in tokens. Short AI-generated video is available on Premium.
Image generation. Outfits, backgrounds and poses can be requested in chat or through a separate generator, again paid in tokens.
Apps and sync. There is no native app. Candy AI runs in a browser and can be installed as a web app via Add to Home Screen on iPhone or Android, which also turns on notifications. Everything lives online, so it syncs across devices and nothing works offline.
Privacy and safety
Candy AI is run by EverAI Limited, a Maltese company, which is the data controller under the GDPR. Its privacy notice, revised on 19 October 2026, says data may be used to “train and develop our AI models and moderation technologies” after being aggregated, anonymised or de-identified, and that human reviewers may look at de-identified conversations. It also says third-party AI model providers and hosts “may receive the content of your messages”. Account data is kept for up to three years after your last activity. Deletion requests go by email to the privacy team or data protection officer.
The service is for adults only, and the notice refers to a third-party age and identity verification process without naming the provider.
One matter is on the record. In January 2025 the investigative site Bellingcat reported that Candy AI ads had appeared on a deepfake pornography site through EverAI’s affiliate programme. EverAI told Bellingcat it does not condone deepfakes, that the placement came from an affiliate, and that it had cut ties with the publisher; the links were removed. Bellingcat named EverAI’s chief executive as Alexis Soulopoulos, a co-founder of the Australian pet-sitting company Mad Paws.
A word on healthy use. An AI companion can be good company on a lonely evening, but it is not a substitute for people or for professional support. If things feel heavy, Samaritans are free on 116 123 in the UK, and 988 is the call and text line in the US.

Candy AI is hard to judge from outside. It has no official store app, so there are no store ratings, and apps using the Candy name on the stores come from other developers. Its Trustpilot page now carries Trustpilot’s notice that the profile “has been removed” because the business “goes against our guidelines and is no longer visible on Trustpilot”. That leaves no first-party review score to report.
In practice, the 5 free messages are your only test drive, so use them on a single character and pay monthly for the first round if you want an easy exit.
