Thailand does longevity differently from Switzerland. Instead of a single medical method, a typical program puts a blood panel, an IV drip, a hyperbaric chamber, Thai herbal compresses and a cupping session on the same schedule, often on the same day. Some of that is serious medicine. Some of it is centuries-old tradition. And some of it is neither.
We compared the Thai retreats with a genuine health program behind the spa menu: RAKxa near Bangkok, Layan Life at Anantara Layan Phuket, Chiva-Som in Hua Hin, Kamalaya on Koh Samui and Clinique La Prairie’s new Phuket resort. For each one we looked at what you actually receive, who delivers it, what the whole stay costs, and which claims hold up.
Why Thailand Is Asia’s Longevity Laboratory
After a week of fasting-mimicking meals at Chenot in Switzerland, the Thai approach looks almost indulgent. Nobody at these resorts asks you to live on 850 calories. You eat three proper meals, have a massage most days and spend your afternoons by a pool.
The medical side, though, can be surprisingly intensive. Bangkok’s private hospital sector has long served medical travelers, and the newer retreats borrow its laboratories and doctors. They then add traditional Thai, Chinese and Ayurvedic therapies, plus imported wellness technology such as cryotherapy chambers and hyperbaric oxygen.
That mix raises a question European clinics rarely face so directly. When a program combines a validated blood test with a herbal steam and a vitamin drip, how do you tell which part, if any, is doing something?
What Counts as a Longevity Retreat in Asia?
The properties in this guide fall into four groups:
- Hospital-backed medical retreats: a resort with a clinic run by, or partnered with, a hospital group. RAKxa is the clearest example.
- Medi-wellness inside a luxury resort: a dedicated longevity center within a beach hotel, such as Layan Life at Anantara Layan Phuket.
- Lifestyle health resorts: long-established destinations built on exercise, nutrition, bodywork and traditional medicine, such as Chiva-Som and Kamalaya.
- Imported medical brands: Clinique La Prairie, the Swiss clinic, opening its first Southeast Asian resort in Phuket.

How We Researched This Guide
DailyStoke has not stayed at any of the Thai properties in this guide. This comparison is based on official program pages and menus, press releases, specialist-agent listings, published research and regulatory guidance. Where an official price wasn’t available, we used a named UK specialist agent’s published rate and say so.
The firsthand context comes from our stays at Chenot Palace Weggis and Clinique La Prairie Montreux, which we cover in our European longevity retreats comparison.
The Thai Longevity Retreats Compared
1. RAKxa Integrative Wellness, Bangkok: The Hospital-Backed Option
Built around: a “fully integrative” medical retreat in Bang Krachao, the green river island that Bangkok calls its green lung, about an hour from both airports. Minor Hotels, which owns Anantara, manages the villas. Medical services come through VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center, a subsidiary of Bumrungrad International Hospital, one of Bangkok’s best-known private hospitals.
What the program includes: the seven-night Integrative Longevity program lists five laboratory packages (blood age, hormones, micronutrients, toxic metals and food intolerance), body composition analysis, a functional fitness assessment, a 30-minute anti-aging doctor consultation and a 50-minute wellness consultation. Treatments include an antioxidant IV, a 45-minute hyperbaric oxygen session, a three-minute cryo sauna, acupuncture and cupping, Thai herbal detox therapy, an IV laser session, whole-body light therapy, lymphatic drainage and a supplement formula. The ten-night version adds a liver detox IV, a second HBOT and cryo session and an Ayurvedic marma massage.
Low-calorie diet? No. Three meals a day are included.
What makes it different: genuine hospital-grade laboratory access combined with Thai, Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine under one roof. RAKxa also runs separate Women’s Health, Energy Renewal and Sleep Enhancement programs, launched in November 2025.
Claims that need stronger evidence: RAKxa describes the program as improving vitality, preserving physical and cognitive function and “life expectancy.” Earlier RAKxa material promoted telomere-length testing as a marker of predisposition. Telomere length and “blood age” scores are research tools rather than clinical decision aids. Commercial food intolerance blood panels, which typically measure IgG antibodies, are not an accepted way to diagnose intolerance. And a single HBOT session or IV drip has no demonstrated longevity effect.
Price: Integrative Longevity from £9,179 per person sharing (low season, June to October 2026) to £10,999 (high season, December 2026 to February 2027); single from £10,499. Ten nights from £11,579 sharing. Prices as listed by UK agent Healing Holidays, including transfers, villa and full board (checked October 2026).
- Pros: proper hospital-linked medical oversight; a very wide treatment schedule included in the price; Bangkok’s specialist hospitals are close by.
- Cons: the doctor consultation is just 30 minutes; several tests and treatments lack good evidence; a crowded schedule leaves little room to rest.
2. Layan Life by Anantara, Phuket: Longevity Medicine at the Beach
Built around: a dedicated wellness and longevity center within Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, opened in October 2024 under Minor Hotels’ Life by Anantara concept. The upper floor has consultation rooms, physiotherapy, aesthetic treatment rooms and spaces for IV procedures, cryotherapy, a hyperbaric chamber and hydrocolonic treatments, alongside a Thai herbal dispensary.
What’s on offer: “Retreats for Life” run for three, five, seven or ten nights, with themes including Traditional Thai Medicine, Shape, Beauty, Active and Mindfulness. The menu lists a medical consultation with blood tests, advanced disease-risk and DNA testing through a partner laboratory, a 20-minute epigenetic test using hair follicles, an OligoScan heavy-metal test, a 3D body scanner, postural analysis, IV drips including NAD+ and a Myers cocktail, an Icepod cryotherapy chamber down to minus 110°C, hyperbaric oxygen and colon hydrotherapy. An initial wellness consultation is required before any treatment.
Layan Life has also added two three-night women’s retreats, one medically guided for perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause, and one based on Thai traditional medicine. It also launched “Life After Layan,” with doctor consultations one, three and six months after your stay.
Low-calorie diet? No.
What makes it different: it’s a beach resort first, so a partner or family can have a normal holiday while you do the program. The follow-up at six months is better than many rivals offer.
Claims that need stronger evidence: hair-follicle epigenetic age, OligoScan heavy-metal readings and colon hydrotherapy. None is a validated basis for medical decisions in healthy people. Exposure to heavy metals is properly assessed with blood or urine tests ordered for a reason.
Price: retreats from THB 35,000 (about $1,080) per person per night, three-night minimum, reported in December 2025; Minor’s women’s retreats are sold all-inclusive from $1,000 per person per night sharing.
- Pros: dedicated medical floor; structured aftercare to six months; works for mixed-interest couples and families.
- Cons: the treatment menu leans heavily on unproven diagnostics and aesthetics; no doctors named publicly.
3. Chiva-Som, Hua Hin: Healthy Aging the Old-Fashioned Way
Built around: exercise, nutrition, bodywork and Thai traditional medicine, at a beachfront health resort that has operated since 1995. In 2026 its whole calendar is organized around the four elements of Thai traditional medicine, with a quarterly theme and free sessions led by a senior TTM practitioner.
Who delivers it: a team that includes Thai and Chinese medicine practitioners, Ayurvedic doctors, physiotherapists and naturopaths. Chiva-Som describes itself as not a hospital. Its Niranlada Medi-Spa is an aesthetics clinic.
What’s included: the five-night Ageing Well program includes a health and wellness consultation, a naturopathic consultation, an optional physical analysis and skin consultation, spine mobilization or bone density analysis, Gyrotonic, personal training, aquatic body therapy, a Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage, a biofeedback session and a treatment every night from the spa menu, plus up to nine classes a day.
Low-calorie diet? No; wellness cuisine at every meal.
What makes it different: maturity and restraint. Chiva-Som doesn’t sell IV drips or biological-age scores with this program. It sells habits.
Claims that need stronger evidence: traditional therapies such as Chi Nei Tsang and herbal treatments are pleasant and culturally rich, but long use isn’t the same as clinical evidence for healthy aging.
Price: from THB 24,000++ per person per night in an Ocean Room sharing, full board with wellness inclusions (the “++” means service charge and tax are added). UK agent Healing Holidays lists five-night Ageing Well stays from £2,499 per person sharing in low season (checked October 2026).
- Pros: proven exercise and nutrition basics; a calm, well-run resort; best value in this guide.
- Cons: little medical assessment; traditional therapies are presented with more confidence than evidence allows.
4. Clinique La Prairie Phuket: The Swiss Clinic Comes to Thailand
Built around: Clinique La Prairie’s “Longevity Method,” brought to Thailand at a new resort of 40 private pool villas at Tri Vananda in Phuket, which the brand lists as opening in November 2026. It’s Clinique La Prairie’s first destination in Southeast Asia, joining Montreux and Anji in China, with a resort in AMAALA, Saudi Arabia, listed for 2027.
What’s on offer: the Phuket page lists four signature programs: Reverse Aging, Essence of Vitality, Master Detox and Life Reset. There’s a longevity spa, a plant-based restaurant called Seeds and a Technogym fitness center. Clinical staffing, diagnostics and prices haven’t been published.
What makes it different: it’s the only resort here offering a Swiss medical brand’s full program in Asia. Having done Master Detox in Montreux, I know the Swiss version combines medical testing with treatments such as injections and a cleansing procedure. Whether Phuket delivers the same clinical depth is the key question.
Claims that need stronger evidence: Clinique La Prairie’s proprietary CLP Extract and rejuvenation claims, which we examine in Clinique La Prairie Revitalisation: what is CLP Extract?. Our Clinique La Prairie review covers Montreux.
Price: price on request; Clinique La Prairie had not published Phuket prices, staffing or diagnostics when we checked the official page in October 2026.

5. Kamalaya, Koh Samui: Stress and Burnout Rather Than Biomarkers
Kamalaya, on Koh Samui, is best known for programs aimed at stress and burnout. Its Wellbeing Sabbatical combines stress-management consultations, personal mentoring, meditation, breathing practice and traditional therapies, and is designed for longer stays.
It isn’t a diagnostic retreat. We include it because, for many people considering a “longevity” trip, sleep and stress are the problem worth solving, and Kamalaya is built for exactly that.
Price: price on request. We could not confirm current rates from an official source in October 2026, so ask for a full quote including room, meals and therapies.
Beyond Thailand: Asia’s Other Longevity Addresses
Clinique La Prairie also runs a destination resort in Anji, in China’s Zhejiang province, and urban “Longevity Hubs” in Beijing, Doha and Dubai. The hubs are clinics rather than places to stay, which makes them a useful alternative if you want the assessment without a week away.
The Americas have their own version of the Asian resort-clinic model, and our guide to US longevity retreats covers Canyon Ranch, Pritikin and Sensei.
Traditional Medicine, IV Drips and Hyperbaric Chambers: What the Evidence Says
Thai programs mix interventions with very different levels of evidence. Here’s how we classify the main ones.
| Treatment or test | Where you’ll find it | Our classification |
|---|---|---|
| Exercise coaching, nutrition, sleep and stress programs | All five | Established for a defined indication |
| Standard blood tests (lipids, glucose, kidney and liver function) | RAKxa, Layan Life | Established for a defined indication |
| Bone density analysis | Chiva-Som (optional) | Established for a defined indication |
| Body composition scans | RAKxa, Layan Life | Promising but preliminary |
| “Blood age” and epigenetic tests | RAKxa, Layan Life | Promising but preliminary |
| Telomere length tests | Earlier RAKxa material | Insufficient evidence |
| IgG-based food intolerance panels | RAKxa (food intolerance package) | Insufficient evidence |
| Handheld heavy-metal scans | Layan Life | Insufficient evidence |
| IV NAD+ | Layan Life | Plausible mechanism, uncertain benefit |
| Antioxidant, Myers and “liver detox” drips | RAKxa, Layan Life | Insufficient evidence |
| Hyperbaric oxygen for healthy aging | RAKxa, Layan Life | Insufficient evidence |
| Whole-body cryotherapy | RAKxa, Layan Life | Subjective wellness benefit |
| Colon hydrotherapy | Layan Life | Insufficient evidence |
| Thai, Chinese and Ayurvedic therapies | All | Subjective wellness benefit |
Hyperbaric oxygen is established for specific hospital conditions, and colon hydrotherapy carries real risks; neither changes the rating for longevity use.
Traditional medicine: respect, not assumptions
Thai traditional medicine is deeply woven into the country’s health culture, and herbal compresses, Thai massage and Chi Nei Tsang can be deeply relaxing. Relaxation counts for something. But centuries of use don’t show that a therapy slows aging or prevents disease, and most of these treatments haven’t been tested in good-quality trials for those outcomes.
IV drips
An IV drip delivers nutrients straight into the bloodstream, which matters if you’re deficient and can’t absorb them by mouth. Most healthy travelers aren’t. The human data on IV NAD+ are thin: in the best-known pilot, plasma NAD+ didn’t rise at all for the first two hours of a six-hour infusion (Grant et al., Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2019), and there’s no outcome trial showing that drips slow aging. Any IV carries small but real risks, including infection and vein irritation, so ask who places the line and why it’s indicated for you.
Hyperbaric oxygen
Hyperbaric oxygen is an established hospital treatment for a defined set of problems, including decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning and certain non-healing wounds. Healthy aging isn’t one of them. The study behind most anti-aging claims used 60 sessions, had no control group and was partly run by the company selling the treatment (Hachmo et al., Aging, 2020). One or two sessions on a retreat may feel pleasant, but there’s no good evidence they do anything lasting. Ask about the chamber type, the pressure used and whether a doctor screens you for ear, lung and sinus problems first.
Detox, colonics and “toxic load”
The US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health says studies of detox and cleansing programs are few and of low quality, that there is no compelling research showing detox diets remove toxins, and that colon cleansing may have side effects, some of them serious. Your liver and kidneys already do this job. If a retreat says it has measured your “toxins,” ask which substance, by what method, and what the safe range is.
Stem cells and regenerative treatments
None of the Thai programs above lists stem cell treatments, though Clinique La Prairie’s website includes a “Stem Cells Protocol” among its programs. The US FDA’s position is that the only stem cell products it has approved are blood-forming cells from cord blood, for blood disorders, and that no exosome product is approved. Rules differ abroad, but the science doesn’t. Outside a registered clinical trial, treat any stem cell offer for aging with great caution.

Doctors, Licenses and Hospitals: Questions to Ask in Thailand
Thailand has a large, sophisticated private medical sector, and Bangkok in particular has hospitals that treat patients from around the world. That’s an advantage for RAKxa, whose clinic is linked to Bumrungrad. It’s less helpful on an island.
Before booking, ask:
- Is the doctor registered with the Medical Council of Thailand, and in which specialty did they train? “Anti-aging doctor” describes a job, not a specialty.
- Is the clinic licensed as a medical facility, and who is legally responsible for the medical treatments?
- Do traditional medicine practitioners hold a Thai professional license?
- Where is the nearest hospital with emergency and intensive care, and how would I get there?
- Will I receive my results in English, in a format my own doctor can use?
- Who stores my health data, and can I ask for it to be deleted?
Check your travel insurance too. Many policies exclude elective medical treatment and its complications; our travel insurance guides explain what to look for.
If you’re pregnant, take medication for diabetes, have heart or kidney disease, or have a history of eating disorders, speak to your own doctor before any program involving detox protocols, colonics, IV drips or hyperbaric oxygen.
What Thai Longevity Retreats Really Cost
Comparable seven-night stays for one person sharing a room, using the starting prices above, before flights:
| Program | Program and treatments | Room | Food | Consultations | Common extras | Indicative 7-night total per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RAKxa Integrative Longevity | Included | Garden Villa included | Full board | Doctor and wellness consultations included | Pool Villa upgrade, extra treatments | £9,179 to £10,999 sharing, by season |
| Layan Life retreat | Included in retreat rate | Included | Included in all-inclusive retreats | Medical consultation and blood tests on the menu | IV drips, HBOT, aesthetics beyond the package | From about THB 245,000 (about $7,560) at the THB 35,000 nightly rate |
| Chiva-Som | Wellness inclusions and a daily treatment | Ocean Room | Full board | Wellness consultations | Extra treatments, service charge and tax | From THB 168,000 plus service charge and tax |
| Clinique La Prairie Phuket | Price on request | Pool villa | Not published | Not published | Not published | Price on request |
Thai retreats are cheaper than their Swiss equivalents, but not cheap. A week at RAKxa costs in the same range as a week’s program fee plus room at Chenot Palace Weggis. The difference is that more of the Thai price goes on treatments with thin evidence, and less on supervised dietary change.

Asia’s Longevity Resorts in 2027: Swiss Brands and Six-Month Aftercare
In 2027 Thailand’s longevity market is more crowded and more medical than it was even two years ago. Clinique La Prairie has chosen Phuket for its first Southeast Asian destination, 40 pool villas at Tri Vananda that the brand scheduled to open in November 2026, with a Saudi resort at AMAALA listed for this year. Layan Life at Anantara Layan Phuket now follows guests home with doctor consultations one, three and six months after their stay, and RAKxa sells separate longevity, women’s health, energy and sleep programs.
The traditional side remains just as visible: Chiva-Som built its entire 2026 calendar around Thai traditional medicine. The evidence gap between the two hasn’t closed, which makes asking good questions before booking more important than ever.
