FanDuel Predicts Review: Get $100 in Predicts Bonus, Plus Fees and Legal States

FanDuel Predicts review: the $100 Predicts Bonus for $1 trades a day, how CME-backed contracts work, fees, its 18 sports states and how it rates vs Kalshi.

FanDuel Predicts Review: Get $100 in Predicts Bonus, Plus Fees and Legal States

FanDuel built the most popular sportsbook in America, but its sportsbook stops at state lines. FanDuel Predicts goes everywhere else. Launched as a joint venture with CME Group, the world’s largest derivatives exchange operator, it lets you buy Yes or No contracts on sports, markets, crypto and culture, regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission rather than state gaming boards.

Non-sports markets are open in all 50 states. Sports contracts are limited to 18 states, mostly big markets without legal online sports betting, such as California, Texas, Florida and Georgia. If you live in one of those states and have been watching friends in New Jersey or Ohio use FanDuel Sportsbook, this is the closest you can get.

You must be 18 or older to trade. Event contracts can lose their full purchase price. Gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER, or FanDuel’s listed helpline, 1-800-522-4700.

FanDuel’s welcome offer is built around habit rather than a big first deposit. You open an account, make a deposit and place a real-money trade. FanDuel then credits a $20 Initial Promotion Bonus. For each of the next four days you place another real-money trade, you get another $20, up to $100 in total. Trades made using bonus money don’t count toward the daily requirement; it has to be your own deposited cash.

Two terms matter more than the headline. First, the bonus doesn’t sit in your account for long: any unused Predicts Bonus is removed one day after it lands. Second, you have to select the bonus manually on the trade slip, otherwise FanDuel uses your deposited cash first.

The offer is only for people who have never opened a FanDuel account of any kind, so existing FanDuel Sportsbook, Casino or Fantasy customers don’t qualify. FanDuel also limits it to one bonus per Social Security number.

How the bonus works: a worked example

Here’s how a week of the offer could play out for someone in San Antonio.

  • Day 1: Deposit $10 and buy $1 of Yes contracts on the Spurs. FanDuel credits $20 in Predicts Bonus within 72 hours.
  • Days 2 to 5: Trade at least $1 of your own cash each day. Each qualifying day adds another $20 in bonus, for $100 in total.

Now say you use one $20 bonus on Yes contracts priced at 40 cents. That buys 50 contracts.

  • If Yes wins, the 50 contracts settle at $1 each, so $50. Under FanDuel’s terms you keep only the winnings portion, which is $30 in withdrawable cash. The $20 bonus itself doesn’t come back.
  • If No wins, the contracts settle at zero and the $20 bonus is gone, but your own deposit is untouched.

Across five bonuses, that adds up to five free swings at a market, with only the profits ever reaching your cash balance.

Refer a friend

FanDuel Predicts also runs an invite program: $20 in FanDuel bonus for each friend who signs up, up to $200. Referral bonuses are non-withdrawable Predicts Bonus that expire seven days after you receive them, and minimum trade amounts apply.

How FanDuel Predicts Works

Each FanDuel Predicts market asks a yes-or-no question: Will the Chiefs beat the Bills? Will the price of Bitcoin finish the week above a set level? Will a film win best picture? Contracts trade between one cent and 99 cents, and a winning contract pays $1. The price you pay is the most you can lose.

The price doubles as a probability. A Yes contract at 30 cents means the market thinks there’s about a 30% chance it happens.

Picture a Sunday in Atlanta. You buy 25 Yes contracts on the Falcons at 44 cents:

  • Contract cost: 25 × $0.44 = $11.00, plus a small trading fee shown on the trade slip before you confirm
  • If the Falcons win: 25 × $1 = $25.00, a profit of $14 before fees
  • If they lose: $0, a loss of $11 plus fees

If the Falcons jump to a 17-point lead and the price climbs to 80 cents, you can sell before the game ends for about $20, locking in a profit without sweating the fourth quarter.

Contracts are not bets, in FanDuel’s own framing

FanDuel Predicts talks about “predictions,” “trades” and “positions.” Under CME Group’s event contract disclosure, these are binary options: you pay the premium up front, there’s nothing more to owe, and the contract is cash-settled using a third-party data source. You’re trading against other participants on a CFTC-registered exchange, not betting against FanDuel at odds it sets. In everyday use, a Yes contract on a team winning works a lot like a moneyline bet, which is the heart of the legal fight described below.

Combos

FanDuel Predicts lets you combine up to eight football predictions in a single trade. All of them have to hit for the combo to pay. Parlays, teasers and traditional odds-style betting are not part of the product.

Markets: What You Can Trade

  • Sports: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college sports and world soccer, including game winners and player props such as touchdowns, passing yards and interceptions, with live scoring updates. Sports are limited to the 18 states listed below.
  • Finance and commodities: Contracts on market moves, listed by CME Group.
  • Crypto: Bitcoin and other crypto price outcomes.
  • Culture: Award shows and other entertainment events.

Elections and economic data releases are not where FanDuel Predicts is strongest. Kalshi lists far more politics, inflation and Fed markets.

Fees

FanDuel does not publish a per-contract fee schedule on its public pages. Instead, the fee for each trade appears on the trade slip before you confirm it. Independent testers have reported fees of a couple of cents on small trades. Creating an account is free, and so is depositing by bank transfer.

By contrast, Kalshi and Polymarket US both publish formula-based fee schedules, where the fee is highest around 50 cents and shrinks toward the extremes. If you’re trading in size, it’s worth checking the slip on a few FanDuel trades and comparing.

Is FanDuel Predicts Regulated?

Yes. Accounts are opened with FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC, a joint venture between FanDuel Group and CME Group. It is registered with the CFTC as a futures commission merchant (FCM) and is a member of the National Futures Association. You can check the firm’s registration in the NFA’s BASIC database.

Contracts are listed on CFTC-regulated exchanges: CME Group’s exchanges and Crypto.com’s CDNA market, according to FanDuel’s App Store listing. Contracts are fully margined, so you can never owe more than you put in. Funds are not FDIC insured or SIPC protected.

SportsAlabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah
Finance, crypto, culture and other non-sports marketsAll 50 states

FanDuel’s approach mirrors DraftKings’. FanDuel Predicts is offered in most places where FanDuel Sportsbook isn’t, and sports contracts stay out of states where FanDuel holds a sportsbook license. Your physical location, confirmed by geolocation, decides what you see.

The state disputes

Whether a sports event contract is a federally regulated derivative or a state-regulated bet is still being fought out in court. Prediction-market operators and the CFTC argue that the Commodity Exchange Act puts these contracts under exclusive federal jurisdiction. Many states argue that sports contracts are sports betting by another name and need a state license.

The federal appeals courts have split. The Third Circuit ruled for Kalshi against New Jersey, while the Ninth Circuit (Nevada) and the Sixth Circuit (Ohio and Tennessee) ruled that states can apply their gambling laws. That kind of disagreement often ends up before the Supreme Court.

FanDuel has had to pick sides. It and DraftKings withdrew from Nevada’s licensing process after moving into prediction markets, following Nevada regulators’ position that licensees can’t offer event contracts. By keeping sports contracts out of its sportsbook states, FanDuel has avoided a direct clash with the regulators who license FanDuel Sportsbook, but a future court ruling could still change the map.

How to Sign Up

  1. Download FanDuel Predicts from the App Store or Google Play. The product is mobile-only, with no desktop version.
  2. Create an account, or log in with an existing FanDuel username (existing customers can trade but don’t qualify for the new user bonus).
  3. Verify your identity. You’ll provide personal details and your Social Security number. Federal rules also require questions about your trading experience, employment and finances before you can deposit.
  4. Turn on location services so FanDuel can confirm which markets are open to you.
  5. Deposit, then make your first real-money trade to trigger the first $20 bonus.
  6. Trade $1 or more on each of the next four days to collect the rest.

App Ratings

  • Apple App Store: 4.8 out of 5, from about 6,800 ratings
  • Google Play: 4.6 out of 5, from about 1,700 reviews (listed as FanDuel Prediction Markets)

Both apps are rated 18+.

Customer Service

Help is available through FanDuel’s support center (support.fanduel.com), live chat, email at support@fanduel.com and the @FanDuel_Support account on X. There is no phone line. Consumer Protection tools include deposit limits that apply across all FanDuel products, deposit alerts and self-exclusion for one, three or five years. Disputes go to binding arbitration, with CFTC reparations also available.

What Users Say

Most App Store ratings are positive, with users praising the clean interface and the familiarity of the FanDuel brand. The written complaints follow a pattern. Several users report accounts being locked or suspended for identity checks after a win, and question why verification wasn’t completed up front. Others describe failed bank withdrawals or being restricted to the method they deposited with. Some say promotional bonuses didn’t credit or trades were voided, and a recurring theme is slow support with no phone option. FanDuel’s developer replies point users to support@fanduel.com and its X support account.

Responsible Trading

Every FanDuel Predicts contract can settle at zero. A five-day bonus built around daily trading is designed to build a habit, so set a deposit limit before you start, and decide in advance how much of your own money you’re willing to put in. A contract at 85 cents still loses about 15% of the time. For help keeping trading in proportion to the rest of your finances, see our money section. Gambling problem? Verdict

FanDuel Predicts brings the country’s biggest sportsbook brand to states where FanDuel Sportsbook can’t operate, and pairs it with one of the most respected names in derivatives. The welcome offer is generous for the effort involved, $100 in bonus for five $1 trades, as long as you remember that each bonus disappears a day after it lands.

It isn’t the deepest prediction market. Sports are limited to 18 states, the fee schedule isn’t published in one place, and there’s no desktop version. Traders who care about elections and economic data will find more at Kalshi. But for a sports fan in Florida, Georgia or California who already knows the FanDuel app, it’s an easy, regulated way in.
