The 2018-19 LEN Champions League quarter-finals get up and running on Thursday, calling together the eight best men’s water polo teams left in Europe’s top competition.
The schedule kicks off with a clash between Jug Dubrovnik and Ferencvarosi TC, who came fourth in Group A. Bwin have priced the Croat winners of Group B as 7/5 underdogs despite winning their pool in the previous round, while Ferencvarosi come in as 17/20 favourites.
Catalan club Barceloneta are 1/4 (1.25) shoo-ins to beat 19/4 (5.75) Sport Management, but those short odds don’t compare to that of eight-time champions Pro Recco. The Italians—based in Liguria, Genoa—are a face 20/1 (21.00) Waspo Hannover, who finished sixth out of eight in Group B and qualified as hosts.
Defending champions Olympiakos are slim 3/4 (1.75) favourites to beat the third and final Italian side to feature in the last eight, Brescia. Brescia, listed 7/4 (2.75), are hoping to become the sixth Italian club to win a Champions League crown after they finished third in Group A, but Group B runners-up Olympiakos had a superior attack in the preliminary round and could pose good value.
