The World Surf League has announced its nominees for the 2019 Big Wave Awards, with the winners of this year’s silverware set to be revealed at an awards ceremony at Redondo Beach in California on May 2.

Surfers will contend for a raft of awards in men’s and women’s categories, including Ride of the Year, Men’s XXL Biggest Wave, Women’s XXL Biggest Wave, Women’s Biggest Paddle, Men’s Biggest Paddle, Wipeout of the Year, Men’s Best Overall Performance of the Year, and Women’s Best Overall Performance of the Year.

Hawaiian surfers Kai Lenny and Billy Kemper are each nominated for Ride of the Year, while Justine Dupont of France boasts two of the three nominations for Women’s XXL Biggest Wave.
